The PBAM Rebound Vol. 21

PIBNA 43 MONTREAL 2019

Murphy’s Law ( whatever can go wrong , will go wrong ) did not apply to PIBNA 43 Montreal. PIBNA 43 was blessed.

August 31 – Sept. 1 was a glorious weekend. Lots of sunshine, the humidity level was excellent. Factor in a 7 court venue, very proximate to the booked hotels, free parking and voila, a perfect weekend for a Tournament.

52 teams came to compete and on a 3 game minimum guarantee including playoff, 97 games total. It was puny by standards as compared to other tournaments but it was well covered. No frenetic search for referees and table officials, the bane of excessive entries. PIBNA 43 bit what it could chew and chewed what it could swallow. No choke, no puke. With this schedule, quality time to enrich or squander was spent at the Montreal Casino.

PIBNA 43 FINALS RESULTS:

In the 17, Rey Foz’ PBAM charges, behind the sizzling 22 point performance of MVP Ryan Morales whacked a hapless Toronto Elite five 81-35. It should be noted that the Elite played without 2 of its players who were suspended for a game ejection.

Toronto • U20 Champions

Toronto • 5’10 Champions • MVP Angelo

5’10 …. Mr. “Scruff” and the 3 time Champions FILACT almost got tripped in their run for the 4th title by a Montreal Royals five but surged in to eke a 60 – 55 come back win.

Toronto • Open Champions • Jayden Mohammed

Jersey City • 35+ Champions • MVP Gagan Singh

In 35+, Jersey City pulled off an impressive win over a strong but fatigued Toronto team, lead by MVP Gagan Singh.

In the 45 over, Montreal Royals held their ground against FILAC Toronto but could not close out a win, losing 69-66.
