The PBAM Rebound Vol. 18

Nothing More Can Be Truer

by Jake Maguigad

For the need to say something worthwhile, a local Sage commented the PBAM is a family business. For whatever worth he means, nothing can be truer. Well said.

For the young player who puts the time, the effort and devotion to practice and improve his game, for his parents who stake hard earned funds to see their son compete, to have fun and enjoy the game, to know and experience what they practiced and saved for, this is their family business.

For the husbands who play for recreation, relive his glory days and exercise after a hectic work week, for the wives who allow their husbands (ditto for boyfriend and girlfriend) their soul mates to enjoy, be part of the action and, maybe, peace of mind, a workable domestic schedule is their family business.

For the Volunteers and their families who organize fund raisers, car pools, team practices, sort, distribute uniforms and help out in whichever way, sharing precious time on weekends is family business.

For those who take it upon themselves to accept the challenge of managing a 63 team, 385 game Winter League, 24 weekends of lugging equipment, picking up empty bottles, candy wrappers, mop spillage, confront and pacify tough hombres and preserve a safe environment. All guts, no glory, approachable not distant.

The players, parents, husbands and wives, the Volunteers and Administrators all have one thing in common, the willingness to blend and support each other. Together as one, not “kayo contra kami” a decisive factor in protecting and maintaining a great Community service. Yes, the PBAM is a family business. Thank you to the Community Sage.

Wishing each and all Blessed Holidays, Happy Holidays and the Best of everything for the New Year. Stay well, healthy and wise. Cheers!!!
