Message from the PBAM President

July 10, 2015

The summer season is in full gear with a lot of activities that comes with it. Certainly wish you are all enjoying it and keeping safety in mind always.

We, the Management of the PBAM (Philippine Basketball Association of Montreal) have assembled over 60 players (from 57 different teams) ranging in ages between 11 years old to 45 years young and above to represent Montreal in the PIBNA (Philippine Inter-city Basketball of North America) Tournament. Our city has registered and will have 6 teams competing in different category age groups. This year it is being held in Tampa Bay, Florida on September 5-6th, 2015. This tournament hosts over 15 cities across eastern North America boasting their top selected players.

PIBNA 39

We are conducting numerous “fund raising efforts” and have been able to raise a few hundred dollars. However – we are still quite far from our target of $5,000 for this tournament. All proceeds of the recently held yard sale and other upcoming initiatives (ZUMBA, Bagging, another MEGA Yard Sale to be held during the PBAM Summer League Championships, possibly a car wash and “Disco Night” by Mike Castro… will go direct to helping the many players that will be representing us.

We would like to knock on your kind loyal hearts to support us in representing our city. Our team is asking any financial support that you can donate to us to defray some costs (transportation, food, lodging, registration fees) so that we can compete in the tournament.

This basketball tournament is an opportunity for our selected athletes to play and expose them to high level competitions (many cities have NCAA Div. 1 level experiences). This competitive tournament promotes sportsmanship, camaraderie, experience and potentially help individuals further increase their network web. A great experience for all!

Your support not only helps us in this tournament but more importantly – allows us (The PBAM) to continue to provide services to our community by hosting clinics, competitive games, training for the youth and build their character in a safe, positive environment & really – a family affair. Our services through the hosting of basketball games provides an outlet for the young generations to learn valuable lessons, to hang out in (without fights or brawls) whilst keeping in physical healthy shape rather than wondering the streets aimlessly that often results to illegal activities or trouble with the law.

We urge you to donate – please contact the PBAM Management – Mrs Nancy Maguigad and Mrs. Lydia Baluyot.

We are the PBAM – an open book non-profit organization filled with kind hearted and dedicated volunteers helping each other to pave way for the generations to come. Please help us so we can continue to help the community.

Thank you in advance for your kindest support and consideration regarding this matter.

At your service,
Rick Aquino
PBAM President
