Greetings from the New President

Greetings from the New President

It is with great pride and elation to be the new President of the PBAM. Basketball has been an integral part of my entire life. I started my interest in basketball at a very young age in a small barrio of Silangan, Rosario, Cavite. Fast forward to Montreal in July 1973, due to love and passion for basketball, I got involved immediately with the PBAM. From that date, the PBAM has become my “Mother Association” and my “Alma Mater” when it comes to Filipino basketball in the 1st degree.

From the get go in October this year, my tenure has been a blast but a pleasure at the same time, a humbling but a valuable experience to serve and work with numerous groups of people like the incumbent umbrella associations together with the new and old independent teams. But with all the complaints, suggestions, tough situations and decisions, having MMBRA referees the whole season and combined with our shortcomings, I must admit the transition is not an easy one. All of that being said, I mature more and become a good listener and moderator. I am now better equipped to lead for the betterment of this organization. We are all in partnership, a community of families and a league of different team colors. But the only thing that separate us in the basketball court is the uniform we don during the games.

As 2015 slowly comes to an end, we find ourselves reflecting back on what we have accomplished in the first two months of this year’s Winter League. The people we met namely the players (young ones and young once), the parents (single and couple) and the unsung heroes (the volunteers). You have contributed immensely to our experience, success and enjoyment this year. We value and appreciate your continued participation and entertainment.

To all the Coaches , Managers , Trainers and Association Leaders, we treasure your positive contribution and commitment. With your guidance, kids and adults alike continue to learn the basics of sportsmanship, a style and attitude that can have a positive influence on everyone around them. In conjunction, the PBAM will continue to serve our members with a purpose of using the sports of Filipino basketball as a tool to guide, educate and mentor them on and off the court.

As gifts are given and received this Yuletide Season , I truly believe that the best gift one can offer is giving our free time to others – volunteering. It is something we do for people who are less fortunate. Consider that most people find themselves in need at some point in their lives. So today you maybe the person with the ability to help, but tomorrow you may be the recipient of someone else’s volunteer effort.

As 2016 comes upon us, I would like to take this opportunity to say my BIG thanks to you ALL as I look forward to witness in the New Year a very competitive and high octane Winter League games. My special thanks to my great PBAM team, Rick Aquino my Predecessor and our Chairman, Mike Narciso – VP Internal and Schedule Maker, Noel Tejada – VP External, Alfonso Carrera , Del Cacabelos , Miguel Sorensen , Jazi Barba , Frank Baluyot our Versatile Officer, Nancy Maguigad and Lydia Baluyot our Moneygers and In Charge of Accounting, our young but responsible timers and scorers and last but definitely not the least Mr. Jake Maguigad the Brain and One of the Founders of the PBAM.

From our Management team, this is the time again to wish everyone the very best for the Holidays! May the good Lord permit us all to find love, peace, contentment and good health in the New Year!

My personal wish is what we say in Tagalog, ” Maligayang Pasko at Manigong Bagong Taon sa Inyong Lahat “.

Mabuhay !
