SAD TIME FOR MONTREAL FILIPINO BASKETBALL

On behalf of the PBAM, it’s Officers and Membership, we extend heartfelt condolences and sympathy to the Ruiz family for their great loss with the passing of a beloved daughter and sister.

Debbie was a pioneer in Montreal filipino women’s basketball, a stalwart of PBAM Women basketball teams in PIBNA competition, the last when the team won the final game, beating New York for the title. Debbie was the only female player ever considered to play point guard for the all male 5’10 PBAM team, and the only Montreal Filipina player to play NCAA (U.S.) Division 1.

A great loss, tough and sad. Prayers, bless her soul.
